to me,the thing that people dont remember,is the fact that so many lst,s and lsi,s,were taken away for the anvil adventure,which meant that overlord was put back by about a month.which was more important,the sucess of overlord or anvil.lee.

i understood he was at home,with his mrs and boy.i think it was her birthday was it not.quite a long drive to his h.q,was it not.runsted was a better general anyway imo.lee.

It would not have made the slightest difference. Rommel was always inferior to Monty and by then a spent force. My opinion only...

For quite some time in the early days, we were vastly outnumbered. The boasts of "little fish we shall throw them back in the channel" never happened, they tried, and nearly reached to coast at Lion. But the screen of anti tank guns and the arrival of the Airborne at about 21 hours, resulted in them turning tail.
Again my opinion only.

yes,i reckon rommel was inferior to monty as well brian,imo a corps c/o at best.getting back to the question of the capture of the eastern bridgeheads.of course it was important.lee.
