An interesting little number...Non Fraternisation

This I guess was a card issued to servicemen/women
serving in Europe after the collaspe and surrender of
the German Army, Letter No.2

1/ I have been considering the present orders about
non-fraternisation. We cannot let-up on this policy.

2/ But these orders need no longer apply to small
childern.

3/ Members of the British Forces in Germany will
be allowed to speak to, and play with, little children.
This will come in to effect at once. In all other
respects the orders issued by me in the card dated
March 1945 will remain in force.

Has anyone got Letter number 1, I think
this would be an interesting read. I have
Number 3

What did they think the children were
going to do to them or was this a bit
of propaganda...the healing of minds and souls?

I looked to my personal diaries and found the following:

Tuesday 15th. May 1945
Over the border at Thorn into Austria. Everything changed. Marvelous scenery.
My first contact 'proper' with the German race. We are told 'No Fraternisation'-- quite unnecessary.
(Just so that the wrong meaning is not read into that, I was implying that it was not necessary to tell me that I should not fraternise as that was furthest from my thoughts at the time).

I see that the Regimental War Diary for the same date said:

May 15th - Verbal orders received from 78 Div to establish PoW camp at FERNDORF for 500 PoW.

Attached copies of my Fathers Non Frat letter, I assume it to be Number 1, dated March 1945. A bit more explanation in the letter.

Do you think the British Army of today
would adopt the same lines...I think note.

Oh,Ive an evil streak in me...As I was reading the thread , "will now be allowed to play with children" the devil on my shoulder though,""hhmmm,is that a special clause for Monty?" ....then read who issued the order ...

And if I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when? Rabbi Hillel circa 30 BCE I was "Called-up" in Oct 1942 Served as a Wireless-Op with the 49th LAA (78 Div) from Apr 1943 to Dec 1944 (North Africa,Sicily,Italy, Egypt). The Regiment was disbanded in Dec 1944 and I was retrained (in Italy) by the Royal Armoured Corps. Served as a Loader-Op with the 4th QOH from Mar 1945 to Jan 1946 (Italy, Austria, Germany) Finished up as Tech Cpl for "A" Sqdrn.
