![]() | airplane crash sites. i was down the pub earlier,trying to gleen info about my mates wartime experientes,fighting ss blokes in normandy and nw europe,when another bloke told me about 2 airplane crashes in chippenham.now one was german,iseen all about the german one in chippenham museum years ago.but the other plane was a wellington,which crashed right near where i used to lived.is there anywhere i can look to find out what squadron this bomber belonged to.the museum does not know anything.apparentley it was there till about 1956,when a industrial estate was built.yours,lee. |

![]() | jesus christ alive.it was not a wellington,it was a stirling of 90 sqadron,which crashed on chippenham lodge,about 50 yards away.he was out gardening.bloody hell .great site paul,i think i,m going to ---- myself.yours lee. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Lee, All I've been able to discover is the following crashes in or near Chippenham. 6 April 1941. Spitfires I X4822 and X4826 collided over Chippenham and spun into the ground. Both pilots killed. 13 September 1942. Proctor I. Spun into ground. 10 October 1942. Hudson VI FK494 (10MU) hit trees whilst low flying. 19 February 1944. Oxford I NM282. Dived into ground. Mosquito HK401. Crashed Rawlings Farm, Cocklebury.
