![]() Philip, my database should help you out at Propaganda Leaflets But a good first indication is the code number that is printed on most leaflets in one of the bottom corners. If it is just a three digit number it is most likely either a British leaflet from the 1939-41 period, or a Russian-origin leaflet from 1941-42. Just a four digit number - Russian origin, 1942-1945. G.??? - British to Germany 1942-45 (F.??? for France, H.???? for Holland, B.??? for Belgium, etc.) ZG.???, WG.???, XG.??? - Allied (PWD) to Germany and German troops. USG.??? - American (OWI) to Germany (USF.??? for France, etc.) That's just a small selection of the most common code numbers. Leaflets in English, produced by Germany have a wide variety of code number styles. Hope this helps!? Lee Last edited by PsyWar.Org; 01-03-2008 at 04:44 PM. | |

![]() ![]() | PS That gives me an idea, I should really put up a page on my website identifying all the different code number types. Also a tip for searching the leaflet database. Use the search box at the top of page but first UNcheck the "With Picture" option. Then either type in the leaflet code number (just the numbers without letters will do), alternatively try typing in part of the main title on the front of the leaflet - try the reverse side is the first attempt didn't find a match. The database has an index to over 4,000 different leaflets from WWI to the present day but only about a quarter of those are actually illustrated, so that's why you should uncheck the "with picture" option. If anyone can supply nice scans of propaganda leaflets that aren't shown in the database, that'll be great ![]() Last edited by PsyWar.Org; 01-03-2008 at 04:44 PM. |
