Abbreviatins Query please

I am trying to writing up the service records of a neighbour and have become a little confused with some of the abbreviations that are mentioned on the service records, so can anyone help please.

My guy enlisted at Shrewsbury on 1st June 1944, and was then attached to No 1 P.D.C w.e.f 14 June 1944, until being posted to the South Staffs Regiment on 12th October 1944.
He was then transferred to Para Reserves Btn on 15th April 1945, then A.A.C Hldg Bn ???? on 10th June 1945, before being posted to 13th Para Bn on 2nd September 1945.

Can any kind sole please help and try to explaine to me what the following abbreviations stand for
No 1 P.D.C
Para Reserves Bn
A.A.C Hldg Bn
What would my guy of been doing while attached to the units. I am tending to think that they are some kind of training depots as it was in his early career

Any help would be appriciated

john549 is an unknown quantity at this point
South Stafordshire's were used as Glider Bourne troops in WW2, they have a VC earned at Arnhem.
During this phase, Parachute Regiment were not designated as 'Infantry' but as part of the Army Air Corps .
