Munich Today

I'm considering a trip to Munich sometime in the near future, and I was wondering what buildings or famous/infamous places from the Nazis' earliest days up to the end of the war, can still be viewed today? I'm aware that the Lowenbraukeller(where Hitler addressed the Party Old Guard every November) is still open, and that Dachau concentration camp is not far from the city. I'm also aware that the Party's HQ from the 20s and throughout, the Brown House, has long been consigned to rubble. So can anyone else help me with other locations in or around the city. For example, the Circus Krone, Burgerbraukeller or the Feldernhalle?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

The Feldherrnhalle is still there. It's a monument to 2 Bavarian Field Marshalls, Count Tilly of the 30 Years War & Count von Wrede of the Napoleonic Wars. The closest U-Bahn station is Odeonsplatz. I don't think that the Burgerbraukeller exists any longer. I don't know what Circus Krone is.

Another interesting place is the Deutsches Museum, which has a Bf109, an ME163, an Me262, Germany's first ever U boat & several models of German warships. The same institution has also an aircraft museum at Oberschleissheim, which is on the S-bahn about half way to the airport. When I was there in May the only WW2 aircraft on display were a Fiesler Storch & a Dakota. However, there were Spanish versions of the He111 & Do24 visible in the renovation area. There were lots of modern & civilian aircraft & a WW1 Fokker DVII on show.

If you're interested in other periods of history, then I'm told that the Bavarian Army Museum in Ingolstadt is excellent but I didn't have time to go.

Thanks for the links and the info you provided Gibbo, extremely helpful.

Since you mentioned it, the Circus Krone was a hall in which Hitler spoke often in the 1920s, mostly empty at first, but filling up steadily as the party's popularity increased. I'm pretty sure he didn't speak there after 1933, but I might be wrong.
