Paul, you can 'advanced search' a bit although my French is not really good enough to look thoroughly.

I can't post a link to a search but if you go under recherche avance and then try place names like 'Dunkerque' or 'normandie' or even 'allemands' 1939 - 1945 then there are some interesting images.

Some of you may have noticed the IWM collections main page is currently offline.
Quick check shows this chap as the registrant of the .org now.
Possible that the main url still lies with IWM though, Lambeth registrant 'UK organisation'.

Wonder what that's all about.
IWM forgotten to renew the domain?
Someone's jumped in?

Who knows, hope it's back soon... I miss it.

Interesting, it looks like the nameservers for iwmcollections_dot_org_dot_uk were changed yesterday (26 April) and now points to a hosting company's holding page.

The main IWM website is still linking to the iwmcollections domain so it looks like it's an unintended change.

When I looked I realised what rareity he had brought out it was an album of personal photographs of Erwin Rommel taken by his batman one of which was of Rommel standing outside the actual Ouvrage I was looking for pictures of......

To celebrate it's online return.
Here's a gratuitous pair of nice carrier pictures I just pottered onto :

NAVAL MINE RECOVERY AND DISPOSAL SQUAD AT WORK, TAYPORT, 25 NOVEMBER 1941
Members of the Mine Recovery and Disposal Squad remove a naval mine from the beach at Tayport, Scotland, with the aid of a Bren gun carrier being operated by Polish troops, 25 November 1941.
