![]() | Air Raid Wardens Sydney Australia G'day all My first post asking a question reads: Can anyone give me information or point me to a web site that will inform me as to the formation, organisation and duties of Wardens in the NES (National Emergency Service I think - perhaps WES Wartime Emergency Service) in Australia - particularly Sydney In WW2? The reason for my question is that my grandfather (a WW1 vet) was a member of this organisation and I have his wardens helmet which is a black Brodie with a white 'W' painted on front and back with the letters NES (perhaps WEs scratched into the paint work. I also havea photo of him in this helmet which I will post in the near future. Any response would be appreciated Regards Sean |
