![]() | Allied Ex-Prisoner Of War Medal The Allied POW Medal is a commemorative medal and has to be worn below the veterans campaign medals. The Symbolic Meaning of the Colours Centre = Barbed Wire Black = The despair of the compound White = The second and third fences of the compound Green = The green fields of home Red = The burning faith of the POWs Ex-POW Bill Balmer has his POW medal mounted along with his campaign medals. When he parades this Sunday he knows some comments may be passed as in previous years but he wears the medal with pride, just as he wore his POW battledress with the black diamond on the back on the first Remembrance Parade after the war (1945). Any similar stories or views on this? |

![]() | Tell him to carry on wearing it! Anyone wearing this medal would get my support for wearing it. Is Bill a member of the National Ex-Prisoners of War Association? There is an on going argument over the wearing of Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal. This is a medal award to soldiers who served in the Malaysian Emergency between 1957-1966 by the malaysian government. Apparently the Queen has given her backing to the wearing of this medal, but the British government has so far refused. More servicemen were killed in the Malaysian Emergency than in the Falklands, It just goes to show what the British government thinks of its Veteran Soldiers! ![]()

![]() | Did every POW receive the POW medal ? I used to pin all my father's medals on my teddy bear so they disappeared a long time ago . When his first grandson was born , my father bought second hand medals to pass on . Should he have a POW medal ? He was captured in Singapore . Trincomalee |
