I'm in Central Scotland- it's a bit of a trip! I'll keep Croonaert in mind though. Thanks for the tip.

Some good books there. I'll point my mate to the Korean one, as his old man was captured after the Argylls called in air support and the USAF managed to napalm them instead of the Chinese.

"There was a Guards Sergeant present at the Boulogne evacuation who was seriously wounded and became a POW. While he was in the German POW camp he took part in a Ceremonial Parade and was presented with his citation for the VC but not the medal."

Is this statement true?

Def. not IGs [Kenneally and Charlton were 2 WW2 VCs], and the other Guards bn. there were Welsh weren't they? Please correct me if I am wrong ...

I'm talking to an ex Royal Marine and ex-POW from Stalag VIIIB. He is called Bill Balmer and I am writing up his life story. This is one bit of information I am unable to confirm.
