![]() | P.O.W. I.D. numbers. Attached is a P.O.W. identification photograph of my Father. The numbers on the picture do not correspond with his P.O.W. number or his service number. Any suggestions? Last edited by David Layne; 02-11-2006 at 01:45 AM. |

![]() | Need some help here. Attached is the back of the photograph, as you can see the imprint of the seal clearly shows "42" and what appears to be the R.A.F. Eagle and "Royal Air" the 42 eliminates it being a P.O.W. number as he wasn't shot down until 1943. As 09425 was not my Fathers serial number I am still not sure what this number means but I have come up with this theory. In 1942 he was at 9 Conversion Flight ( Waddington) could the numbers mean, 09 (9 Conversion Flt.) 42 (1942) 5 (Class 5)? Does anyone know if units made i.d. pictures in that way?
