50% not bad considering tanks really aren't one of my strong points...

100% but it took me three attempts. 50% then 70% and then the 100%. A bit cheeky isn't it, saying that the HQ squadron wasn't a fighting formation. Were they always in reserve?

Thanks for a good quiz
Bod

Well I got 40% and I know absolutely nothing about tanks whatsoever. Just guessed with a little bit of logic thrown in :-)

Hi Bod,

In Tank Brigades, RHQ (either 4 or 5 Churchills) was not deemed to be a 'Fighting Squadron' - it was of course an essential part of a fighting formation, as they carried the CO, 2nd I/C, I/O and the Adjutant. The 5th (if in inventory) was used as an OP.

Cheers, Gerry

Thanks Gerry, am I right in thinking that the specialist armour was also concentrated in the RHQ squadron? Or have I misunderstood the terminology. I have seen ARV's with the diamond badge. Also were the Close support (howitzer equipped) tanks grouped together there?
I know that in Sherman equipped regiments that the Fireflys were initially kept in reserve back in the HQ squadron until called for.
