Cool The 540th Combat Engineers

Just wanted to share the good news with everyone today. I am celebrating because I got my first article published in WWII Magazine. I received my issue in the mail this morning and sure enough, there was the story of my dad's unit, the 540th Combat Engineers in the Commands section.

Even though it was edited as expected, I was nonetheless proud that their story was finally told. I'm glad their unit got some well deserved recognition after 60 years. Dad I hope I made ya proud!

Congratulations! I'm a subscriber, so I'll read the article when I get the issue!

Thanks guys. This month it's Army Engineer Magazine's November/December issue. I guess in a way I'm even more excited about this one because my article is unedited and also includes many great photos and maps and a picture of my father. Hat's off to the editor, Mike Morgan. He did an amazing job and even dedicated the cover to my dad's unit!

Belated congratulations Marion, I know your daddy is proud but not half as proud as you are of him. My father is veteran of the Pacific Theatre an Officer in the US Army Amphibious Engineers Company B, 3rd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment 3rd Engineer Special Brigade. He served in New Guinea and outlying Islands, the Philipines, and finally as occupation force first landing in Aomori, Japan before being transfered to Tokyo. Yup, i'm proud of my dad too. 8-)
