Re: Any Collectors?

I collect some stuff. Mainly 76th Infantry Division (US) since that was my grandpa's division.
I also collect WWII rifles.

Been a collector for most of my life; both WW1 and WW2. Got some nice items at War & Peace show this week!

What do you think of Mitchells? Do you have your C&R?

Re: Any Collectors?

No, I do not have my C&R anymore. I let it expire this year. If I didn't I would still be buying stuff I didn't need
Mitchell's is nice if you want to make a really pretty rifle, but don't care much about collector value. It has been my experience that most collectors prefer a decent untouched piece, rather than a refinished, "restored" one.
If it is a rifle that is going to be kept by an individual, then Mitchells is a good way to go, if you don't mind the wait. But if it will ever be resold, you will most likely never get what you put into it out of it.

Re: Any Collectors?

I have been collecting for a while now. Just recently I purchased an Iron Cross set.

No, I like to smell what I buy.

The question about Mitchells was rhetorical, I think their prices are laughable, especially after they been messed with.

You are absolutely right, there is no resale value.

Re: Any Collectors?

The funny think about restoration and such, is that the only weapons it doesn't seem to detract from, and seems to be OK with the collecting community, are US weapons. There seems to be a lot of services aroung for them and everyone really sings their praises.

Re: Any Collectors?

If your referring to DCM weps I disagree. The junk that's flying around the shows for 900.00 is a joke. Many of them don't even headspace.
