Brigadier Sheil

Brigadier William Anthony* Sheil was on the General Staff, and originally in the Royal Artillery. He is buried at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, having died on 29th April, 1945.

Can anyone suggest how I can find out anything about him? Without a unit to follow up, I don't know where to start. The C.W.G.C. site gives no family details and not even his age.

Thanks, Belville

Many thanks, everyone. That's a lot more information than I had before. It explains why he is on a war memorial in Dublin, too.

If anyone has any more ideas, do please send them in.

Brigadier W A Sheil

The Times of 21 November 1934 reports that, on the occasion of the state opening of Parliament, Capt W A Sheil commanded F Battery, Royal Horse Artillery, which fired a 41-gun salute in St James’s Park.
