![]() | Looking for Info on Great Uncle I'm looking for any info on my Great Uncle Peter Boyter, 76th squadron volunteer reserve RAF. I have found in the CWCG that He was killed in action on 16/07/44 in France and is buried along with four other men at Courcelles Les Gisors communal cemetry. A copy of a letter I received from my Great Aunt which was from a F/LT R.J. Mickleburgh-saunders 51620 "A"" squadron 2002 (D) wing, RAF B.A.O.R ) it says that out of the 7 men in the plane , 3 survived. The reason they died was through hitting the ground, through failure of their parachutes opening, due to being too low to the ground. Just reading a copy of another letter from a professor in France it says Halifax M.Z.524 P.N.P 76 squadron yorkshire was shot down on th,e 16th July last year at 1.30am. Forgot to ask: How can you find out what medals were issued to someone in WW2 and if they were ever received. Any more Information is greatly appreciated.
