![]() | Army Reserve Militia When my father left school he began an apprenticeship at Fairey Aviation . He was called up 15/9/1939 shortly before he completed the apprenticeship . I've always been surprised that experienced men were taken from the aircraft industry so quickly . I have my father's papers - Army form B 200c . It says : ARMY RESERVE - MILITIA RECORD OF SERVICE PAPER of a man deemed to have been enlisted as a MILITIAMAN ... There is a crossed out Army Number , with a new one written above it . Was there a list somewhere , of those that would be called up first ? Does it still exist ? Would I find an army number on such a list ? The reason I'm listing all this is that noone can find records for his brother . He was also working at Fairey , but not as an apprentice . I believe that both he and my father reported to the Kings Liverpools on 15/9/1939 . Army Records have no records fpr my uncle . As soon as he could , my uncle transferred to the RAF . This was definitely before January 1940 (probably earlier ) . The RAF can't find him either . They say they need his service number . Does anyone know of any way I can find him ? |
