![]() | Hi guys, I am new here, but I start with a question. I am working on a study of a 3-day fight during the Battle of the Bulge, it is about the 3 opening days (dec 16-18,1944) on the frontlines of the 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th division and 424th Infantry Regiment, 106th Division. They were opposed by the 58th Panzer Corps (116th Panzer Division and 560th Volksgrenadier Division). It is extremely difficult to find any information about that last German unit (560th VGD), so any help would be greatly appreciated. I know that the US Army has interviews with German commanders, and that such an interview exists of Oberst Langhauser, commander of the 560th Volksgrenadier. Any idea where I can obtain these? Thanks! : ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think these accounts are only available direct from the NA in the US. Have you tried the Osprey sub-series 'Order of Battle', a number of which cover areas of the Battle of the Bulge? They are available fromt the Osprey website.

![]() | Thanks Paul. I already tried to find them in the information that the NA has on the internet, but that is so difficult, that I think it will have more results when I write to them or post them an E-mail. <_< I just had a great time visiting your site about the WWII battlefields. I have visitied the areas of the battle of the bulge and normandy many times and Hell's Highway also. Even the landing beaches of Sicily, Salerno and Cassino and I also paid a visit to the cemeteries and battlefields of Crete. If you need any pictures, let me know. :P I have a few of the Osprey series, but since my study is on the scale of battalions and companies, I do not seem to find much in these books. Any how, I am going to buy that particular one (that will be 'the Northern Shoulder', I guess) Thanks again. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There's a fair bit about the actions of the units you mention (though not of the 424th I.R. - the 423rd IR of the same division is covered quite well) in a sort of "day by day" account in the excellent Battle of the Bulge- Then and Now by Jean Paul Pallud. I believe that this volume is almost unrivalled for detail on this battle. B.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | They have divided it between North, Centre and South, with a volume for each area for each of the combattants, with quite some detail - so six volumes in all. An excellent coverage, in my opinion.

).I've only got two of them haven't I!!! (the Northern volumes - my main interest). To be honest, I haven't really used them much, as I've found better coverage elsewhere - though the attached maps are excellent. B.
