Dear All

My Grandfather was a POW in Italy after being captured in North Africa. I have just found a reference on the back of an old photo that my Grandmother must have sent him.

It is BRD J.J Whitehouse 949587

P.G 68 P.M 300 Hut 11 Italy

From this can anyone help me to locate where he was being held in Italy.

Thank you very much any help.

Regards

Karen

Arthur

Thank you, I posted the information to the POW site after I had made the requst here. I found the information at the records office at Kew.

The camp he was at in Italy was in Vetralla then on the capitulation of Italy he was moved to Austria.

Still looking for any information on when he arrived in Austria and how he got there.

Unfortunately I never had the chance to talk to him about the war as he died when I was 9 years old.

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen ,
Have you tried getting in touch with the R. A. Museum at Woolwich or the Imperial War Museum to see if they have any references to the move from Italy to Austria?

Good Luck

Arthur
