Hello everyone,

My first post:

I have recently discovered an uncle, who died in 1940

George Smythe: Sapper B/29063
Served with: Royal Canadian Engineers
Died: April 16th 1940
Buried: Toronto (Prospect) Cemetery Ontario

Question:
Where can I obtain further information:
Re: Next of kin - where he died etc.

I wrote to the National Archives, Ottawa, beginning of November, and have received no reply.

Also, trying to find a site to check obits, for April 1940, Toronto Telegram, and Toronto Star.

All help greatly appreciated!!

Many thanks,

Joan

Joan, don't know, but the new Canadian War Museum might be able to help.

Welcome aboard, and thank you for your uncle's service to Crown and Country.

Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)
