SAS: The Originals.

Radio 4, The Archive Hour. Saturday 8PM:

SAS - The Originals: The remarkable story of the birth of the SAS, told by the men who were there and who were The Originals. Presented by Gordon Stevens.

Being trailed as previously unpublicised interviews with original members. Sounds promising, The Archive Hour is consistently pretty good.

Cheers,
Adam.

And what I love about the BBC is that if you miss it, you can listen to it again anytime over the course of the following week.

The SAS? We did not have the luxury of their company. We did it ourselves in those days of 1944/5, there was no one else.

Twice we went deep into the enemy lines on "Stunts" Not nice!

Kitty is an unknown quantity at this point
wish my pooter liked those links, but its crashes and sulks for 3 days.

i read a great story a few years ago of the original SAS in North Africa undertaking a raid on a German airfield. They strolled through the front gate as everyone hid, leisurely set fire to the aircraft and a few buildings, then strolled back out again.

When I was a tiddler I knew an ex-SAS from WW2 in the village where my mum grew up. he did a parachute jump for Arnhem in his late 60's and again in his 70's. Unfortunately he died a few years ago before I got into WW2 history.
