I would like to hear from you all with regard to what enhancements you would like to see on the site. I am open to all suggestions so please put your thoughts forward.

I have read the other posts and pooled all the current requests here for quickness.

1) Section for the North African Campaign now available

2) "War at home" Section, although this has been debated quite a bit

3) A calendar to mark the various events throughout the year now available

4) 60th Anniversary Forum now available

5) Possible change of skin to something brighter. new skins available now

6) User flags now installed

7) Built in image gallery to display pictures now available.

8) Section to list the best links to other ww2 sites. this is done

9) You can now select a narrow or wide forum version

I would just like to hear all your ideas and we can then decide on what to do first, we are still a very young forum and your input is important.

Regards

Lee

Hi Lee,

A gallery would be good. Many of us are going to the 60th Anniversary ceremonies this year, and it would be good to have somewhere to share the pics of what we see.

I would also like to see a specific 'Battlefields' area for those planning to visit WW2 battlefields and want some help, and for those who have already been to leave short snippets with help and advice.

I was also thinking it would be nice to have a section marking the 60th aniversary where users can post the events they are going to and how it went on the day, we can then leave the forum there permanently to mark the event.

Can we have the flags back to show member country? Is useful to understand viewpoints of postings.

60th Anniversary section gets my vote too!

Stick these websites in it for starters

http://www.normandiememoire.com

http://www.archivesnormandie39-45.org

http://www.liberation60.gouv.fr

Thanks

flags are no problem, will enable them or install if they were removed completely from the board.

*edit*

Okay flags are not installed, but I have got the flag mod anyway, in fact i have every mod ever made for Invision power board 1.3, I will install this as soon as the site is on my server in the uk. Will be installed by tomorrow night.

Cheers

Lee,
any chance of re-visiting the skin. I find it a bit depressing and it now appears in a narrow format unlike the original, which is not really reader friendly.

lol, I thought the skin looked okay but my Father who is also helping me out with the site said the same thing as you.

I agree on the narrow format though, I prefer it full width.

If you have see any skins you think might be better as a starting point let me know the link and I will have a look.

A new skin is no problem but it does take time to code it all from scratch, so I would prefer initially to look at a pre made skin we can then amend to suit.

IBplanet.com has lots

Lee - in rgards to 6) Add user flags to see which country each person is from

The modification is still installed on the forums - you just need to insert the code into the template which I will give you a hand with.

Yeh the flags are back!

Thanks Lee. Here's to pushing this all forward!

Whilst I do like the shades of grey, nice on the eyes I would agree about width issues. We also mentioned some kind of restrictions for image postings to keep say the images at max 560 0r 600 pixels wide so it always fits on a screen so no scrolling about.

Maybe some shades of Khaki mixed in would be relevant?
