Axis & Allies minis

Anyone else play this? Santa brought me it today and have wanted it for a while; must say I am impressed with the pre-painted minis.

See:

Axis & Allies Miniatures: 1939-1945

Yes I saw the advertisement for those... What scale are they exactly? (How long is the T-34 tank in mm?) I have some 1/300 GHQ tanks & some 1/200 British stuff, (both metal) I wonder what scale those are?

They are 15mm scale according to the website. They look very similar to Battlefront minis available for Flames of War etc.

i'm trying to figure out what 15 mm is, I think it might be 1/144. Very nice looking detail though!

I always thought 15mm figures were 1/120th scale.
Been Googling and found this.

Assuming that the average adult is 1.8 m tall, 15mm is 1/120th scale

I think you are right Owen, but I also believe that generally 1/144 is actually about the scale of most 15mm figures as figures generally are 'larger' than the 'true' mm scales when you and I began wargaming years ago.

Oh , thanks Paul, that makes us so so old.
I had hundred of 15mm figures,WW1, AWI, Marlburian, Medieval all sadly gone up in flames.
Mainly Peter Laing figures, with the Medievals being TTG, TableTop Games.

I thought you would like that comment...

Peter Laing figures were very good; shame you no longer have them.

Ahhhhh.......Axis and Allies.....one of the classic games.....not much of a simulation, but a great game nevertheless....Friend of mine in Darwin used to spend all of his computer time on the A&A Website, playing game after game of teams or pairs if nobody was awake in the U.S.......he used to time his best runs for peak Saturday night West Coast time, which was late Sunday morning....great way to pass the time, and the moaning that went on about the luck factor was appalling. Agood player computes this into his overall gameplan.....

Christos, I think the A&A boardgame is a different beast to what we are talking about here. This is more like tabletop gaming, and there isn't a PC version of this.
