6th Bn. RTR

The Royal Tank Regiment

The War Diaries of 6th Battalion Royal Tank Regiment, the most widly travelled armoured unit serving in the Mediterranean Theatre.

There is a fascinating copy of a letter from the unit's former 2i/c to Lt. Col. Liardet following the entry for 30.11.43.

From that letter.
Quote:
All the tanks which have been lost through A/Tk guns have been due to very well sited and camouflaged 105 SP guns (only a very few 88’s have been met) which have opened up at between 80 and 120 yards. They were quite impossible to see
That certainly is good camo.
Then there is so much other info to comment on....
Great find, Gerry.

More wonderful stuff, and that letter is indeed worth a read, full of detail 'from the horses mouth'.
Anyone even vaguely interested in British armour in Italy should definitely check it out.

Cheers,
Adam.
