1st Batt QRR

Hi everyone,

Could anyone tell me what the 1st batt Queens royal (west surrey) regiment were getting up to at the beggining of 1945 in burma please. As my uncle served with them. Does anyone know where i could get a copy of their war diary aswell.

What period exactly - they were resting in India up to March 1945 after there involvement in fighting in 1944. They were part of 33 Indian Infantry Brigade of the 7th Indian Division.

You may wish to ask your library to get hold of a copy of "Golden Arrow: The Story of the 7th Indian Division in the Second World War 1939-1945" by M R Roberts (buying it would be expensive at £50+)

The info is great, Owen i have sent a couple of emails to some of the veterans on the Burma Star Association website. so fingers crossed.

kirkes lamb is an unknown quantity at this point
Get in touch with the Surrey Archives at Guildford-I believe they now hold all the papers and photographs for the Queens Royal Regiment
