Irish Guards

A new website i'm working on in my spare time. In time it will include a brief history of the Irish Guards during WW2. Should then prove handy for research.

Hi Conor,
Have started a thread about 3 Bn IG in Unit Histories and will be adding more. Hope it will be useful. Am also working on a project - for my father collating his photos and recollections.
Good luck with the project.
Up the Micks,
dbf

We recently discovered that my Great Uncle was a Private with 1st Battalion Irish Guards and died in 1917. Thanks to Croonaert, Owen and Others I have now have a wealth of info on him.

Hi

My grandfather was also in 1 Bn having enlisted in 1913, discharged 1925. I have yet to discover why he got his medals for IBn and 2Bn. His IG records are incomplete, as he also enlisted in 1939.

The war diary for the dates given, show that some men were returned to England because of injuries and "bad teeth".
