![]() ![]() | We recently discovered that my Great Uncle was a Private with 1st Battalion Irish Guards and died in 1917. Thanks to Croonaert, Owen and Others I have now have a wealth of info on him.

![]() ![]() | Hi My grandfather 4565 / 2714280 W Barbour was also in 1 Bn having enlisted in 1913, discharged 1925. I have yet to discover why he got his medals for IBn and 2Bn. His IG records are incomplete, as he also enlisted with RA in 1939. The war diary for the dates given, show that some men were returned to England because of injuries and "bad teeth".
