59 Independent Commando Squadron Royal Engineers - Book?

A good friend of mine spent nearly a decade in 59 Independent Commando Squadron Royal Engineers. I've been looking with some difficuilty for a decent history of this unit (Their website says they can trace their origins back to 1900.)

Has anyone seen or read a book that gives more than a little detail on 59 commando?

Cheers,
Adam.

Don't forget that 59 Coy RE will not always have been a commando unit. Not a book, but a general outline of their history can be found here http://www.army.mod.uk/royalengineer...qn/history.htm

Another thought. If there is a book that gives details of the history of 59 Fd Coy, 59 Fd Sqn and 59 Ind Cdo Sqn RE then the RE Museum at Chatham will know about it. Why not drop them a line?

Cheers for the Museum suggestion PP.
Email sent.
They strike me as an interesting unit with an unusual status. We'd been calling him 'Camouflage' for years before realising during a chat about his visits (read 'pilgrimage')to the Stirling Monument that though 'awfully big' he wasn't really a Marine. He's not the most 'bookish' type so I thought I'd try and fill the gaps in myself.
