Hi John

A (very) belated welcome to this site due only to my taking what might have been considered a well earned sabbatical

As someone with very strong connections to 78 Div (see my avatar) I'm glad to see that you are being well looked after and I can see that you have been given all the right sort of links to help you with your research.

My own experience of being part of 78 Div began when I joined the 49th LAA in April 1943 and I was to stay with the Div until December 1944 when my unit was trashed as being considered no longer necessary (Jerry planes no longer being considered a menace).

My movements within that period are fairly well documented so feel free to ask any questions you like in that field. Any I can't answer will probably be promptly answered by Trooper Tom Canning who, by his long association with me, has become an honorary battleaxe historian

Best wishes in your research

Ron

Hi Ron,
very pleased to meet you, thanks for the welcome and the link, most interesting, my late father was a proud 78th div. veteran, he was with the RASC and was with the 78th from the begining through to Austria after the war. I,m sure i will have many questions to ask as i progress, heading to arras this weekend doing some WW1 research on my grandfather so will post some more in a weeks time!,
once again many thanks,
kind regards and best wishes,
John.
