Thanks for the welcome. Still playing with the options. I don't think the Signature option or Avatar have been "turned on" yet. But I'm certainly not ruling out user error !

Due to spammers in the past, I'm afraid you'll need 5 posts and 3 days membership before all the user functions like PMs, Avatars etc. work, but you can post on the forums, that's the main thing

I hear ya. Keep up the good fight against the spammers. And no apology necessary of course. I'm very impressed with how your site is organized. So many large sites are amazingly counter-intuitive. Glad to see this is an exception to that rule of madness ! And thanks for the explanation on the sigs and avatars.
