Hello to everyone.

I'm a long standing, although I've realised since lurking on here, very amateur historian. My main field of interests are WW1 and WW2.
I first got into military history after being fascinated by the aircraft of the first world war, and von Richthofen in particular. This lead me to the larger subjects. My active involvement waned somewhat durring my 20s, but I've found a new lease of life after finding a group of mates at work were all also interested in the subject, and even more lucky to discover they had been on several trips to battlefields, which I've since joined them on.
I was priveleged to go on my first to Normandy for the 60th anniversary, and was humbled to meet and talk to the veterans. The next year we visited the sites of Market Garden, and this year will visit Ypres and the surrounding areas in November. A brief outline of our trips can be found at my website along with some pictures.

My hobbys away from military history include football (I'm a season ticket holder of the newly formed fans club FC United of Manchester), cinema, and nice handpulled bitter, preferably combining this with the football wherever possible.

Anyway, I may be an infrequent poster, as I'm rather over awed by the knowledge on here, so just set me right when I make my inevitable mistakes, and I'll apologise profusely. I hope to learn more, and hopefully, add a little myself.
Regards, Kev.

You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

Thanks everyone, and Spidge, I promise not to call names on here. I couldn't resist there. It seems I'll have to watch what I post elsewhere hehehe.

Hi Kev - welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy your visit to Ypres in November. I will also be there at that time - have you been before? It can get pretty busy!
