Deep penetration behind enemy lines

Has anyone heard of these deep intrusions into enemy territory. Not patrols, but little groups that penetrated deep behind the enemy lines.

Twice I got involved, one near Vire in Normandy, abutting the USA sector (to remove explosives off a bridge) Then again in Holland, to play an army gramophone at night with little plastic discs. That was up on the river Maas.

I would not talk about it for years, because no one would believe we did such stupid things. Then a few years ago I learned that others had aso taken
n part in the same operation. Not only that, I also discovered through the internet that there were several makes of army gramophones used.

Perhaps some of you would like to do a search? 1944 gramophones..The mind boggles.
