Despite The mulitude of shotguns you find in FPS's I dont think they where popular at all in Western Europe. Short range weopen of choice would normally be a pistol or SMG.

Plus there a bit crap anyway, bit of a cheat gun for use in games with small maps. I personally would be happy not to have one.

Understood, thanks for the reply! Its something we are thinking of adding but if its not liked, or wasn't really used then we don't want to introduce it.

As it is, in our current MMO gameplay, you will see an enemy, click him, if your gun is loaded you fire. If not you have to reload your clip if you already spent it. Attacks will most likely go in bursts, then reload. So, the Shotgun would be out of range for most attacks, I believe.

I also wanted to ask about bases. Pretty much we have the US base setup with tents, barbed wire around it, motor pool. And will possibly add a small airfield. Kind of setup 'on the spot'. For the germans their starter base is basically a few houses they took over, as I believe they did that.

Its still all in the works but I just wanted to ask opinions. These are 'quick' setup bases, temporaries for when you begin the game. Almost like a starter city for any other MMO.

British Helmet

This is probably a silly question(s), and I don't mean to offend anyone with my lack of WW2 history. In WW2, what British helmets did they british soldiers wear mostly? We are thinking of adding in a new Allied and Axis faction to either side.

Here is the helmet I was thinking of. There could also be more but I wanted to start off with one for now.

MK-III

We are pretty sure we will be adding British to the Allied side, but unsure of which to add to the Axis side to fight alongside the germans.

I will do some more reading on this as well but I wanted to see what some might 'prefer' in a WW2 game. As far as I have read I think a good choice would be the 'Italians' or 'Japanese' but I don't think the Japanese were in Normandy.

You may wish to have a look a series of PC Games by Microsoft I played around ten years ago. They were called Close Combat. Althought they were not played in the same dimension as your game. They certainly had all the detail and infomation you may be looking for.

There was a D-Day game, Russian Front and my Favourite one....Arnhem, I actually managed to capture and hold all 3 bridges for 30th Corps.

Have a look see at them ..... They detail all different units, ability and equipment etc. including Armour and artillery pieces.

Good luck with it

I totally forgot they were called "Tommy's" Thanks for that!

I loved playing Close Combat. I hated how my guys would panic and run away, but I guess that was real enough. Or they would just take cover forever.

Nice idea seems to have faltered though. Saying that you have to question how original the idea was. there seems to be a multitude of WW2 shooters out there at present or released in the last 5 years.
