Snipers. Do you love them or hate them?

Saw this on another forum so I thought I'd post it here too.

Personally I don't think you can beat getting a good vantage point whilst your mate covers the only entrance so no one can come up behind you. Aslong as you don't get some sharp eyed shooter spotting you, you're there all day, racking up your kills.

On the other hand, being held up by a Sniper is one of the most annoying things in the world.

Most of the snipers I know are male and quite ugly, not to mention the gilly suit getting in the way, which means 'love' is out of the question.... so by default, I'll have to say 'Hate them'.

Oh yes, a point Marcus, if you have grabbed an obvious vantage point and start taking pot shots at the other side, it won't be very long at all before it not just 'some sharp eyed shooter spotting you' that you are going to have to worry about, but an awful lot of 'Black Rain' aimed at any obvious vantage points, ie. you.

A good sniper wouldn't use any obvious vantage points, and wouldn't take more than a couple of shots before going to ground and moving position. Life isn't Hollywood.

Aye I suppose you're right. But I guess I should have made it more clear that I'm referring to games. Just going by past experience from day of defeat. I've had games where I've been in the same spot with someone covering me, and the enemy either hasn't spotted me or hasn't been able to get to me.

Sniper shootouts with your mate 1 on 1 are great too. Trying to find them before they get you. God I must get back on day of defeat.

P.s. I understand what you're saying about real life snipers. Grizzly.

Exactly what "my" old Grenadier Guards Veteran of the Great War said, "We always shot captured snipers."
In return that is what happened to my Great-Uncle in 1918 as the family story goes.

Just shows how total unrealistic games are doesn't it.

Snipers? Annoying, little more. Really good snipers? Really annoying. Snipers don't win battles and are mostly a very, very tactical methodology with extremely limited impact on a battlefield.
