Is anyone else familiar with this mod of the original Steel Panthers PC game?

It is a FREE game that can be found at www.MatrixGames.com and has several fan sites, including the one I belong to.

Very worth while if you are into tactical simulations.

Can you download the whole game here, or is this just a MOD which require the original game... which has been deleted?

Is it a single player or can it be a multi player game over the internet?

The Game is a complete download...although there is a new version due out in the next couple weeks...so you may want to wait until version 8.2 is posted in their Download Area.

As for game play...you can play against the AI (good when playing well designed scenarios) or in PBEM's with other human players via email...or an online battle for live play. There is no true multi player capability at this time...although we did figure out a way to play a battle with more than two players, it just takes a couple extra steps with the save files.

The game is terrific in the fact that you can battle on almost any front of the war between the time period of 1930-46. There is also several very dedicated 3rd party, independent scenario designers that produce some damn fine battles...several of which have their work posted at www.spwaw.com in the forums area under their individual showcases.

I invite you all to swing by and stop in for a visit.

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have...I'd be glad to assist.

I will second how good a game it is. I have been playing it for about 7 years and even after all that time still gets me thinking. Tactics in the game are about the best I have found in any tactical level computer wargame.

Try this one...and then pick your mirror site. I started both the US and Euro site and they both started up. Hope this helps.

PS...like I said a new complete version is due out towards the end of the month or early July...so if you have slower modem connections you may want to wait and get the newest version of the game.

Normally I'd say dl the game and wait for the upgrade patch...but for some reason the new version will be a complete download only. <_<

Just dropping in to say I am a friend of Orzel's (I think it was you that told me about here actually Orzel).

Follow my link in my sig, and I can show you how to get this wonderful gem of a game on a cd for a sweet deal (mine that is hehe) if you don't enjoy a good broadband connection.

If the game further intrigues you.

I recommend

Matrix games of course, but also...

SPWaW Depot

http://spwaw.com/phpBB2/index.php

or

Warfare HQ

http://www.warfarehq.com/forums/index.php?s=

They give it excellent support.
