One of the things I loved about the call of duty series is the large scale battles in single player where big groups of allied and enemy NPC's fighting each other was fantastic. I also loved the fantastic scripted sequences and the feeling of chaos in the battles. It's makes the experience fantastic.

Are there any other first person shooters (On the PC and not just WW2 ones) that have:

large scale battles
Lots of scripted sequences
chaotic experience

There are the MOH series for the PC, but the battles are not as large scale as in the COD series. For scripted perhaps Hidden and Dangerous, for modern warfare I am not so sure, I would recommend you search a website such as Amazon or Play.com. For unscripted there is always the Battlefield series.

There is a new game that going to be released soon,Red Orchestra, that was built on the Unreal game engine. The game concentrates on the Eastern Front and it is a multiplayer one, much like Battlefield. From reviews that i read, this game is almost certainly a good one

If your PC has the specs then I would go for Battlefield 2. It's the modern version of the old Battlefield 1942 but nothing like it really; a truly excellent FPS with a better on-line presence than the single player missions, which are better than in other Battlfield version. I hear someone is doing a WW2 MOD for it.

There at least 4 WW2 mods for Battlefield 2 that I know of. Here are the websites:
Forgotton Hope - Realism
Experience WW2 - Realism
Frontlines - Realism
Battlegroup42 - Historical Accuracy and Teamwork

Im told the brothers in arms is very good, but be warned its very piccy about what video card you have and can play havoc with your DVD drives. The tech support site is full. It didnt like my video card, a standard Nvidia one!!

the Battlefield series is really multiplayer. I cant get into multiplayer, its ok, i playi t now and again.

Have you played COD united offensive, that pretty good, with deployable weopens (which arnt a great deal of use in a run'n'gun game) but a silly tank level and a B17 gunner level, which his great.

If you want a geat scripted battle game then Farcry is pretty good, lovely graphics and a gear cog in a wheel feel. The big maps give plenty of scope for tactics, theres tons of cover, its good fun.

BIA sucks. You can't shoot people when they're in cover unless you flank them, no matter how many bullets you hit them with.
