You chose dishonor and you will have war." (Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.) What did the Australians do in ww2 and other conflicts? ![]() | That really happened...the Indonesians, under Sukarno, revolted against the Dutch returning to the East Indies. The British and Dutch did not have enough troops to maintain order, so they kept the Japanese forces under arms and used them against the rebels. Ironically, some of the rebels had started off supporting the Japanese against the Dutch in the first place. Now they fought with their former patrons. Weird. Thanks for sharing that story. What an experience! Wow!

![]() | Interesting story. Actually the first Dutch troops arriving in Semerang from was surprised to see they were greated by Japanese drivers and even a Japanese Battalion. Colonel D. R. A. van Langen did not like this. So as soon as posible he made an end to it. Tom '+' |
