Question Iraqi Insurgency Air Force

This has really stumped me - I can't find any more info anywhere else.

From: Markings of Germany's Co-Belligerents

Iraqi Insurgency Air Force

The insurgent Iraqis received support of the Reich. Although the aircraft were carrying Iraqi markings, crews were regular Luftwaffe. These markings often very crudely applied, simply by quick brushing.

Hi Kyt,

all that I have on this so far, which you probably already know is:

The unit was 4. ZG/76 Haifischmaul / Sharksmouth
Martin Drewes was piloting a BF-110 D-3 during Mai 1941 and on June 20th 1941 he shot down a Gloster Gladiator in the Iraq (sorry for that)

The Luftwaffe man next to him is his radio operater Ofw. Petz

Unit: Sonderkommando Junck (ex-4./ZG76)

Al Rashyd (Baghdad), mid-May 1941. A Staffel-strength unit of Bf.110D-3s was committed to Sonderkommando Junck, the Luftwaffe undercover detachment supporting the revolt against the British in Iraq in 1941. These were machines from 4./ZG76 which had hastily received Iraqi markings upon their arrival in Mosul in mid-May 1941. After only two weeks of combat, the Germans departed for Syria by the end of May having lost no less than a dozen Bf 110s during their involvement in the Arab country. Some of these planes had a RLM79/RLM78 desert camouflage scheme, but others operated in Iraq in their standard continental 'Grauen' scheme

Unit: KG4
Serial: 5J+JM
Fourteen Heinkel He.111H-6s were operated by KG4 General Wever in Iraqi markings, supporting the unsuccessful May 1941 uprising against the British in that country.

Two or three German Ju.90B-1 were used for Luftwaffe staff and equipment transporting to Iraq during unsuccessful anti-British rebellion in 1941. Iraqi markings were painted roughly over German.

Ju.52/3m
Unit: 1./KGrzbV 106
Serial: 6 (ex 4V+FN)
Ju.52/3m with Iraqi markings, belonging to the 'Lufttransport staffel Rother' (name derived from the unit's commander, Heinrich Rother), or the 1./KGrzbV 106. The aeroplane was used for transport from Sicily to Iraq and Syria in 1941 during the anti-British uprising in Iraq. It had previously carried the code 4V+FN (now overpainted): flown by Lt. Stober.

KG 200 was most likely involved, and there were also Italian units involved
