![]() ![]() | Battle of Britain- any uniform help please? Hi Guys, I'm trying to work out how a B o B fighter pilot would have looked, does anyone know whether they would have the parachute attached when they scramble or is something done in the cockpit? Also what was the head gear like, was the kit different for spits? Many thanks in advance Soren |

![]() | By the time of the BoB, the parachute wasn't attched. It was usually placed on the wing, and the pilot would grab it before he climbed into his aircraft. One of his groundcrew would then help him clip it into place. It was found that running with the parachute clipped during scramble was too cumbersome, and slowed the pilots down.

![]() | These may help: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see, no headgear - some pilots may have hadtheir leather helmets on already, but some left them in their cockpits or carried them.

![]() | Soren, when looking for pictures be weary of "staged" shots like the one attached. It looks great for propaganda but one can see that it does not represent reality. Can you spot why? ![]()
