My Grandad (in the RAF)

My Grandad was in the RAF during WWII. He was an aerial reconnaissance photographer (his trade) in North Africa (Tunisia/Algeria) but I've no idea which squadron he was in. My Dad doesn't have any info to hand, and has never really taken an interest in what Grandad did in the war, and my Gran is dead now. I could give him a ring, and try and get him to look through my Gran's old papers...

Is there any way I could find out exactly which RAF unit he belonged to? I remember him saying that at the end of the war, he was stationed in Italy.

Thanks!

Do you have anything with his Service Number on?
You can send off for his records.
Service records - RAF

From Family Members and Other Authorised Individuals
A Certificate of Kinship form needs to be completed and sent to:
RAF Disclosures Section
Room 221b
Trenchard Hall
RAF Cranwell
Sleaford
LINCS
NG34 8HB

Maybe full name and date of birth would be good enough.
Oh yes and proof of Kinship.

I have my Dad's cousin's Records, full of info.
