![]() | 59 Squadron 20 August 1943 Looking for any information on the loss of a crew from 59 Squadron on 20 August 1943, they are remembered on the Runnymede memorial, names of the crew as follows; Taylor Erskine Johnson Haddock Barnett Cowgill Hopkins Mason Any help welcome, many thanks in advance. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | On 20 August 1943 Liberator GR.V BZ765 F/59 failed to return from a convoy patrol. F/O. Bill Taylor's Liberator had last been heard of about one and a half hours from base at 2029 hrs about 150 miles west of Ireland. The weather that day was good and no reason for their loss was found. The following day two aircraft were sent out to search for the Liberator but with no success. 'Ours to Hold' RAF Aldergrove At War 1939 - 1945. - T G. Docherty.

Total Time (airframe hours) 52hrs 23mins; Scottish Aviation - 59 Squadron 4 July 1943. Missing from convoy escort patrol approx 150 miles (240 km) West of Eire.
