Well spotted again Nick...The TV programme showed a long clip with the Hurricane too. I thought it would be in the public domain seeing as so much was made of it at the time.

Cheers anyway mate

Thanks for the news pdf's Miss D

Jamie Holdbridge-Stuart is an unknown quantity at this point
Thumbs up

From what I recall small Hurricane fighter models have been made from parts of Ray Holmes's Hurricane's engine. One was presented to him the others sold with the money going to charity.

Without wishing to hijack the thread, a pariticular personal hero of my sons and mine died that day F/O Archibald Langley. Buried in nearby cemetary here. Son did his A level proect on him. Giving his cd presentation to his nephew, a curate in the same church his grave is located.
His story a much lesser story, bailed out on 11th, back in the fight, shot down 15th Battle of Britain day. Different generation.

GERALD ARCHIBALD LANGLEY 81641 PO Pilot British 41 Squadron

Born at Stony Stratford, Langley was educated at Wolverton Grammar School. In 1936 the family moved to Northampton and he went to work for the Prudential Assurance Co.

Langley joined the RAFVR in March 1939 and was with 41 Squadron at Catterick in early September 1940. On the 11th he was shot down by return fire from a Ju 88 over Sevenoaks, in Spitfire X 4325, and baled out, unhurt.

On September 15 Langley was shot down and killed in combat with Bf 109s. His Spitfire, P 9324, is believed to be that which crashed and burned out at Wick House, Bulphan.

Langley was 24. He is buried in St. Peter and Paul churchyard, Abington, Northamptonshire.

Thats him, known as Archie, to his nephew. I have pics of his grave, a pretty unique grave not of the CWG variety and adorned with Gold RAF wings and lettering. A family plot.

Next to it is sgt Taylor with a CWG stone, who was killed in a flying accident on the same day. Two locals buried next to one another, both killed on Battle of Britian day. I have pics of em if anyone is interested But I'll put em up elsewhere as this is Holmes's thread and his story.
