570 Squadron

Does anyone have any information or Photos of 570 Squadron aircrew or Aircraft,
I have looked through the usual RAF sites on the net but can only find brief info.
I am looking through a wireless operators flying logbook .
The Logbook has entries for SOE/SAS drops, Glider Towing ,Op Varsity all interesting stuff.
Any pointers where any Sqn photos may be would be very well recieved

Hi nemesis,

I have a short history of 570, but I expect you will have already seen the like on the net. If you are interested in some of the aircraft/crew losses then please say, at the moment I can cover 4 losses. I believe the Squadron lost eleven aircraft in all during their operations.

Regards
Peter

I have a book on RAF Sqns that I would be happy to type up the details for 570 if you want. The other thing I suggest is that you look and see if there is a book about wherever they were stationed as there might be 570 a/c in... Long shot but worth a try. I have found numerous 75 Sqn a/c but not named as that in a variety of books....

Hi Oggie , RAF Rivenhall was their base but trying to find actual closeup pictures is difficult, Theres a few on Op Varsity , The crossing of the Rhein , but the aircraft are too far away. They flew Stirlings. Is that you in the WRAF uniform, both my wife and I are Ex RAF

Hi Max

Yep thats me I am currently serving at RAF Honington.....

My dad is ex RAF too. He was Air Traffic!

Have you tried "Essex Airfield in the Second World War" by Graham Smith? Will have a look in my stack of bomber command books and see whether there are any 570 a/c especially the Bowyer book The Stirling Story....

Dee
