Has anyone got some information on what the Gyroplanes were being used for other than radar setup.

It seems that there were some secretive operations carried out by them and I would like to find out more about them.

Thanks

Lee

I was only aware of 528 Sqd using Hornet Moths and mainly Blenheim IVs for its radar calibration duties. Formed at Filton 28/6/43 and moving to Lincolnshire in 5/44.
absorbed by 527 Sq

Apparently the were being used during the battle of Britiain for radar callibration as they were able to hover and it allowed for better calibration of the radar.

But there was a claim on a program I was watching that stated this was secondary to their real purpose.
