No it was chugging away towards England in this case. I never experienced any V1s falling in Normandy, the lines were far too close together.

Ah right, sorry for causing confusion, I initially thought of the off track idea because Caen is to the south/west of the V1's launch area in the Pas de Calais and England obviously to the north.

In conflict many very unusual events take place. When you retell it folk look at you as though you are talking bull...Its not, and that is the main reason that many veterans will not talk about their experiencs because of the look of disbelief on the listeners face.

I repeat...I am not in the habit of posting anything but actual history. If you think this is odd other things happen that are even more bizarre.

Sapper As Kyt says, I wasnt doubting you for a second. Just an amazing story.

Though probably not as amazed as the former owners to recieve there little present back again.... Dont you wonder where it came down. Assuming it was aimed at london which is about 100 miles or so from Caan is it???

Thats a great picture !
While talking about strange events that happen in war, some are so "Way Out" that the Veterans will only talk about them amongst theirselves. And that is a shame. I cannot recall if I posted the strange tale of the "Garden Roller man" on here.
Its worth looking at if its on here somewhere?

My Avatar is the memorial to the 22 Commonwealth Coastwatchers at the Temakin Cemetery on Betio (Tarawa Atoll) who were beheaded by the Japanese on 15th October 1942. http://www.dva.gov.au/media/publicat...mem_beito.html

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)
