M.V. Inverellen, was this some type of ship/boat.

While checking some local connections out on the CWGC, I came across a Merchant Navy casualty (please see link below). I can not find any reference to M.V. Inverellen, on goggle. Do any forum members please have any info on this ship/boat..if indeed it was one.

Thanks
John

From: HMS Asphodel

The Death of SS Inverilin

At 02.57 hours on 3 Feb, 1943, the Inverilen (Master Joseph Mann) in convoy HX-224 was torpedoed by U-456 south of Iceland. The tanker was abandoned and sank later in 56°13N/20°35W. The master, 24 crew members and six gunners were lost. 14 crew members and two passengers (DBS) were picked up by the HMS Asphodel (K 56) (Lt G.L. Fraser) and landed at Londonderry.
U-456 was chased after the attack by the HMS Londonderry (U 76), which had to abort the chase after she was damaged by a premature detonation of one of her own depth charges.

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)
