Why do the dates not match with the sinking date ?

Hi everyone.

As you know, my intrest is HMS Mahratta, and something has came forward and would like some help with it.

HMS Mahratta was sunk on the 25th Feb 1944, i have just been sent some photos for the web page, to do with some of the sailors, and the person that sent them have noticed that her husband's Naval Record, does not match the 25th Feb date. He was on the ship when is was sunk.

So WHY is this not the date on the Record, I have asked her to send me the date, but not yet had it. (will let you know as soon as i get it.)

It is a few days before the ship sunk, and also with another survivor.

JUST HAVE 1 SENT OF DATES :
Service record shows 12th Feb to 7th March was at HMS Drake, yet HMS Mahratta was sunk on the 25th Feb 1944. .
