I am trying to find a photo of HMS Hecla, which was torpedoed during Operation Torch in November 1942.

I have tried the usual sites on the net with no luck.

Any ideas?

I think I mention her fate on my web page. Can't recall offhand, but try there.

Hi - thanks. I do have plenty of details of what happened to the ship - I found a lengthy report at the National Archives - there just doesn't seem to be a photo anywhere?!

A photo...you got me. Maybe the IWM or the National Maritime Museum.

Paul

My eyes lit up on seeing 'HMS Hecla'! My grandfather was attached to her when he was drowned in Lough Swilly, Ireland, in April 1918.

During WW1 HMS Hecla was the name of the Royal Navy base on the eastern side of the Lough which is a twenty five mile long deep harbour - a haven for the ships which were minding the Atlantic convoys.

Not much use to you, I know, but thought you might be interested.

Regards
