Hello

This is the 65 years ago today for 26 November. This excerpt is from my research. If this is helpful to anyone, please let me know.

26 November, Wednesday

British armed merchant cruiser CAPE SABLE departed Oban for Scapa Flow, arriving on 27 November to conduct working up practices.

British submarine P 36 made an unsuccessful attack on a submarine at 47-16N, 3-20W.
***

German steamer EGERAN (1143 tons) was sunk on a mine off Memel.
***

British transport ships carrying tanks departed Port Said for Alexandria escorted by sloop FLAMINGO, corvettes SALIVA, HYACINTH, and ERICA, and Greek destroyers KONDOURIOTIS and ASPIS from Alexandria.

Antiaircraft ship CARLISLE departed Alexandria and joined the convoy off Port Said.

The convoy arrived at Alexandria on 27 November.

Japanese carrier forces for the Pearl Harbour attack departed Tankan Bay.

The force was composed of aircraft carriers AKAGI and KAGA of the 1st Carrier Division, SORYU and HIRYU of the 2nd Carrier Division, and SHOKAKU and ZUIKAKU of the 5th Carrier Division, light cruiser ABUKUMA and destroyers TANIKAZE, URAKAZE, ISOKAZE, HAMAKAZE, KASUMI, ARARE, KAGERO, SHIRANUHI, and AKIGUMO of the 1st Destroyer Flotilla, battlecruisers HIEI and KIRISHIMA of the 1st Battleship Division, and heavy cruisers TONE and CHIKUMA of the 8th Cruiser Squadron.

Submarines I 19, I 21, and I 23 were deployed to support the force.

The supply train consisted of eight tankers and supply ships.

Destroyers SAZANAMI and USHIO were sailed to shell Midway Island.

Ayup Don,
All good stuff, there is a much neglected Calendar feature on here that could be a good place to put this kind of information? It could do with some thickening up and is easily searchable if people are hunting timeline info. I think historical events are best entered as 'recurring event'?.
Just a thought so feel free to ignore my rambling.

All good stuff, there is a much neglected Calendar feature on here that could be a good place to put this kind of information

In 5 weeks the calender will be out of date as one is unable to make entrys for 2007.

I think the 'reccuring event' style of entry should keep the entries apearing ad nauseum. I agree though that if Don is looking for a home for his large chronological database the calendar may not be the ideal place.
