![]() | Re: Ak47, Did Mikhail Kalashnikov copy the StG-44? the 7.62x39 cartridge is called m43(for 1943)and was first disigned for the sks simiautomatic karbine(the same round used for ak47)there was however a russian assault rifle developed before the russian revolution based on the japanese 6.5x50mm cartridge(an intermediet round by western standards)it had a 25rd mag,was selective fire about as long as a simonov(witch it resembled)and is to my knowlidge the first assault rifle.because of ww1 and the 7.62x54 a standard round in mass produktion(logistical problems haveing 2 diffrent rifle cartridges)the rifle was not put in production.the 1917 revolution messed things up further and after the war new weapons did not have top priority so it was more ore less forgotten about.i read about it years ago, dont remember were, what it was called ore how the designer was.....and i think mikhail"improved"the stg. |
